Busy Bees Craft Studio

Baby hand and footprints are a unique and lasting memory of the early years.  Come and visit us at the Show to put your childs hand and foot prints on fun and functional items such as bags, plant pots and keepsake boxes. Why have this special memento hanging on a wall when you could be enjoying it every day on a cotton shopping bag! 

Our studio is Glasgow based and you can pop in most days for creative fun with children of all ages.  We also have Creative Play Mornings for pre schoolers with printing, glueing, books, toys and dress up in our painting and imaginative play rooms.

Road Safety Scotland - Ask the In-Car Safety Experts

Ever wondered what in-car child safety seat to buy?  Ever thought how do I fit this, and am I doing it right?  If you have any questions about In-Car Child Safety come along to stand 409, there you will be able to talk to the experts and see live demonstrations on how to fit the various types of seats available for each age of child. Each demonstration will last 20-30 minutes, including any questions from the audience and are scheduled for 11.00am, 1.00pm and 3.00pm each day.

Indulge yourself! Boots No7 consultants will be at The Scottish Baby Show to give you the opportunity to treat yourself or get some advice from our expert team.

There will be a packed timetable throughout the show with essential parenting advice from a range of experts & companies including:

Heinz - Weaning Advice

When your baby is ready to wean they start to show more of an interest in the food around them, for example by watching you eat or reaching for food.  They may also start waking during the night, when they have previously slept through and may no longer be satisfied by a milk feed.  Start to introduce simple tasting, smooth purees in small amounts - just a couple of teaspoons during or after a milk feed, at a time when you are both relaxed.  Once your baby is used to taking food from a spoon, you can introduce a wider range of tastes and flavours.  Remember to keep the salt levels low, as your baby cannot cope with large amounts of salt.  It's really important to include iron in your baby's diet, as their iron stores run out by the age of 4-6 months.  Heinz cereals and Mum's Own Recipe savoury meals are fortified with iron to give you a helping hand.  When your baby is ready to move onto more challenging textures, introduce foods with a mashed texture.  You can also try some more interesting flavour combinations to develop your baby's palate.  By the age of about 1 year, your baby should be eating adult style foods, with a chopped texture.  Happy weaning!

The Baby Gurus - Emotions & Babies and Successful Breastfeeding

Emotions & Babies - Ideal for parents to be and new parents.  Have you ever wondered what a normal response to having a baby is?  Let The Baby Gurus guide you through what to expect emotionally, gain knowledge of a normal response and some warning signs to watch out for.  We will leave you with practical skills on how to cope well.

Successful Breastfeeding - Ideal for pregnant mums and dads to be.  Our positive approach to breastfeeding will allow you to increase your knowledge on breastfeeding and explore practical ideas.  We will show you what families experience and how to cope emotionally and physically.

 

Supermammy

Donna, Nursery Nurse, Nanny and mum of two, specialises in showing parents how to teach their babies/children to sleep, using behaviour modification techniques.  Donna offers various services from one off telephone consultations to home visits, and provides follow up support for parents.  There will be two "Supermammy" talks each day, concentrating on issues surrounding sleep problems, and tips to help new mothers develop good sleeping patterns.  Parents that have received help and support from Donna will also be speaking about their experiences.  Come along, you will not be disappointed.  

Dr Titzer

Dr. Titzer has become a recognizable expert in the area of infant learning and his work has been published in scientific journals - including the prestigious Psychological Review.  Titzer has given talks about early learning on four continents speaking with thousands of parents around the world. He demonstrates fun learning activities that parents can do with infants and toddlers to stimulate brain development.

British Red Cross

Would you know what to do if your baby was unconscious and not breathing?  The British Red Cross will be doing several demonstrations of baby & toddler first aid at the show.

The Baby Gurus and SAMH (Scottish Association of Mental Health) are hosting a lively information zone which will feature;

    provide great parenting leaflets
*  Have fun with our 'worry and wishes' wall

Free Creche Supplied by Bertram

Bertram will be providing a free creche service at the show.  Activities in the creche will include fun arts and crafts sessions, role play, music and dance and lots of exciting, educational toys and resources.  The creche will cater for children aged from 0 to 5 years and will be staffed by our qualified, experienced and enthusiastic Nursery Nurses (maximum stay 2 hours).
